Residential Water Storage Tank Treatment

Puroxi MNB06 Nano Bubble Nozzle Customer Case Study

Application Private residential water storage tank supplied by well water
Reported issue Clear biological growth and water discolouration associated with iron bacteria
Puroxi equipment MNB06 Nano Bubble Nozzle with a 1/4 HP pump
Evaluation period Approximately one month of continuous operation

Result reported by the customer

After approximately one month of continuous operation, Peter Bryce reported that the water was clear, with no visible discolouration or growth. The result developed gradually; he initially saw little change, but later described the improvement as impressive.

“There is no sign of water discolouration or presence of algae.”

The water problem

Peter Bryce was experiencing a recurring clear biological growth and discolouration in a residential water storage tank supplied by well water. He arranged laboratory testing to rule out a contamination concern. According to Peter, the laboratory results identified iron bacteria in the source water. The visible material had been described informally as clear algae; for technical accuracy, this case study refers to it as iron-bacteria-related growth.

Iron bacteria can form slime, films and deposits when dissolved iron is present. The appearance can be mistaken for algae, but the organisms, causes and appropriate treatment approach are not necessarily the same. This case study records one customer’s installation and observations; it does not replace water analysis or drinking-water treatment requirements.

The installed system

Peter installed a Puroxi MNB06 Nano Bubble Nozzle with a 1/4 HP pump. He reported a water flow of approximately 40 GPM. Ambient air was drawn through the nozzle gas ports using blue tubing and a customer-fabricated filtered intake. The filter was added to help prevent insects and coarse debris from entering the air line.

The original arrangement included a long discharge pipe intended to improve circulation throughout the tank. Peter later removed that extension after observing that the simpler discharge configuration provided adequate circulation for his installation.

Operation and observations

Initial operation The pump and nozzle were operated continuously. At first, Peter reported little visible effect on the material in the tank.

Approximately one month On a later inspection, he reported no visible water discolouration or growth and described the change as impressive.

Next step Peter planned to install permanent electrical service and a timer, then test intermittent operating periods to determine whether the observed condition could be maintained with fewer pump hours.

What this case study demonstrates

  • A compact nano-bubble loop can be assembled using a locally selected pump and a genuine Puroxi nozzle.
  • A filtered ambient-air intake can be fabricated to suit the installation environment.
  • Visible improvement may develop gradually; short observation periods can miss changes that become apparent after continued operation.
  • Actual operating schedules should be established through observation and, where appropriate, water testing rather than assumed in advance.

Limitations and technical caution

This is a single-site customer case study based on Peter Bryce’s email, photographs, reported laboratory finding and visual observations. Puroxi was not supplied with the laboratory report for independent review, and the final condition was not documented through a controlled comparison or follow-up laboratory test. Water chemistry, temperature, tank volume, hydraulic circulation, iron concentration, biological loading and operating time can materially affect results. No identical outcome is promised for another site.
For potable or household-use water, nanobubble treatment must not be represented as a substitute for required disinfection, filtration, laboratory analysis, regulatory compliance or qualified professional review.
