Burtonville Reservoir Comparison

The water system

The source describes two reservoirs serving the City of Wilmington Water Treatment Plant. It reports production of approximately two million gallons per day for about 12,500 people and a combined reservoir capacity of approximately 450 million gallons.

The comparison

Both reservoirs historically experienced green algae and cyanobacteria, including Cylindrospermopsis and Microcystis. A solar floating Quattro-DB unit was installed in Reservoir 1, while copper-sulphate treatment continued in Reservoir 2 as an operational comparison.

Evidence classification

Classification: Manufacturer-published paired-reservoir customer report. It provides a useful operational comparison but not a complete controlled scientific dataset.

Important notice

Do not state that ultrasound eliminates cyanobacteria or toxins. Reservoir performance depends on species, depth, geometry, circulation, nutrient loading, weather and monitoring.
